Global Windows Azure bootcamp - 27 April 2013

From 27 April 2013, ‘Cloud’ in information technology is no more a new buzz word in Kerala. Being the biggest techie state in India, it was the strong desire and passion of few techies from K-MUG (Kerala Microsoft Users Group) to conduct such an event in Kerala to educate what is special about Cloud.

Event was inaugurated by chief guests Mr. Anil Raghavan (Chief Delivery Officer, Marlabs) and Mr. Nagaraj Iyer (Delivery Head, Orion India Systems) followed by their inspiring felicitation talks on Cloud computing.

Microsoft Evangelist Harish Ranganathan kick started the event by explaining what is cloud and features of Windows Azure, which is a Microsoft cloud solution, as key session of the event followed by hands on demonstration. In addition to this key hour, six other senior techies from different parts of Kerala delivered excellent sessions on different features of cloud such as cloud storage, websites, services, big data, media services and virtual machines. To make the event lively, volunteers arranged few technology fun activities in between the sessions followed by prizes. Attendees will get free licenses for few software and online services as well. The event was witnessed by a mixed crowd consist developers, architects, system administrators, trainers and college students.

The event was held at Infopark Kochi and, it was organized, volunteered and sponsored together by K-MUG, Orion India Systems and Marlabs with the help of their employees and members.

Is there any plan to avoid Trivandrum Technopark?

Nowadays, most of the K-Mug sessions are being conducted in Kochi and it seems there are no such activities planned for Trivandrum Technopark. We expected some sessions related with Windows 8 developer preview and Kinect dev SDK. But no initiatives came from K-Mug. Is this due to unavailability of volunteers or participants?

Windows Phone Hackathorn at Kochi

We are planning a Windows Phone Hackathorn at Kochi - XAPathon. Some pre-work will be required by the attendees in terms of thinking through their idea, downloading the tools, coming with their own machine, even some pre-baked code etc.

Basically the idea is that attendees come in with ideas and walk out with completed apps pushed into the marketplace (at least submitted for certification). We will give them the reward but will take it back until the app shows up in the market place – and we’ll be transparent about it. We definitely want unique, delightful apps and would love to prominently feature the apps/app developers on iunlockjoy.com – Imagine your/ your apps’ picture on the website.

Please post your comments in our FB group (http://www.facebook.com/groups/TeamKmug/) / here , so that we get any idea how many members interested in such an event at Kochi.

Dreamspark Yatra at Kochi - Another success story

Quick update from yesterday's event at Kochi.

Event was superb! All credits go to Thomas and K-MUG student’s chapter (Deepthi, Rahul and Gopi) for executing it well. We got tremendous support from the Ragagiri college authorities and big thanks to them. Special thanks to our speakers, Praseed and Manu. Detailed reports and more snaps will be updated later.
